UCA Farnham library : art exhibition

8 May

Our very own art exhibition
Library, UCA Farnham, GU9 7DS.
8 – 25 May 2012

The library at University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, is hosting an exhibition of work by staff from the library and VADS (the Visual Arts Data Service)

Our Very Own ART EXHIBITION shifts the focus of UCA’s creative talent from students to Farnham library staff. The works presented for the exhibition range across a wide variety of disciplines and media, from the ‘traditional’ to the contemporary. Contributions have come from those with formal qualifications in the creative arts, but the exhibition has allowed a democratic exhibiting field, as all staff were encouraged to participate. Commendingly, taking into account both their busy work and personal lives, many found time to contribute a piece.

LightTAG at the Foyer Gallery, UCA Farnham

16 Feb

21 February – 5 March 2011

The LightTAG project is a collaboration between the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), the University of Surrey and the South East Physics Network (SEPnet). Led by visual artist Tine Bech, from UCA, and scientist Dr Kathryn Harkup, of the University of Surrey, young people from Hampshire, Kent and Surrey have been discovering a new way to explore youth culture – and challenge society’s perception of it – through the science and art of light.

LightTAG worked with groups of young people who are either: care leavers; disabled; not in education, employment or training and who live within the reach of SEPnet universities. Participants took part in workshops where they were taught how coloured LED lights could create light drawings and animations through an innovative camera technique to produce vibrant pieces of art which will be on show at the Foyer Gallery, UCA Farnham.

More information about this exhibition can be found on the UCA website.

A.I.R. is a group exhibition of artists currently in residence at UCA. This stunning array of artists from all walks of life have come together to exhibit a series of works showcasing their abilities and experience at the University.

A.I.R. explores the way in which these artists work, make and think, by allowing the audience a sneak preview of their practice. With a streamed projection of photography documenting their making processes, the artists are able to answer the question of how these works are made and show the thought processes involved in making. The viewer is able to see what the maker sees from beginning to end and the final pieces, along with works in progress, will be showcased throughout the galleries.
