UCA Farnham library : art exhibition

8 May

Our very own art exhibition
Library, UCA Farnham, GU9 7DS.
8 – 25 May 2012

The library at University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, is hosting an exhibition of work by staff from the library and VADS (the Visual Arts Data Service)

Our Very Own ART EXHIBITION shifts the focus of UCA’s creative talent from students to Farnham library staff. The works presented for the exhibition range across a wide variety of disciplines and media, from the ‘traditional’ to the contemporary. Contributions have come from those with formal qualifications in the creative arts, but the exhibition has allowed a democratic exhibiting field, as all staff were encouraged to participate. Commendingly, taking into account both their busy work and personal lives, many found time to contribute a piece.

Bjørn Venø : MANN

4 Mar

The library at UCA Rochester has just acquired a copy of “MANN” – a collection of photographic work by Bjørn Venø, a Technical Tutor on the BA Photography (Contemporary Practice) course at University for the Creative Arts, Rochester.  The series explores male identity through self portraiture. Venø meticulously constructed each setting, but by using free association techniques to perform what would happen in front of the camera he was able to discover images, rather than merely illustrate ideas.

Bjørn Venø was recently chosen by Yinka Shonibare as one of the “best new artists in Britain”, and you can read more about him here.  Copies of MANN are available to purchase via blurb.com
